I imagine the winemaking team had a lot of fun here. You’ll find it a butterscotch yellow in the glass. The wine immediately hits you with distinct ripe jackfruit aromas. If you haven't tried one before, think of it as a medley of finger banana, mango ice cream and custard apple. You are then treated to a slice of wobbly passionfruit curd tart with vanilla bean and toasted coconut in the crust. It's an invoking wine and one that makes me hungry as you can tell. Richly textured with brioche, honey and roasted cashews, there is a bit of everything all at once in this wine. It's unlike any bubbles you've tried before and feels like it's designed for Spritz lovers. Drink now alongside a good old homemade pavlova the messier the better.

[points rating="89" title="Wine Pilot 2023"]

Member only promo: add 12 bottles to cart, receive 6 of these for free (until 30/09/25)

Promotion only applies to Strelley Farm Pét Nat range and you must be logged in to activate the discount. Please ensure you add 12 bottles of either Pét Nat to your cart and check offer is being applied before proceeding to payment or your order will be cancelled. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount codes.

[split]

Why You'll Love This Wine

The Strelley Farm Pét Nat Rosé is delicious enough to transport you to another time and place. In the glass a bright guava colour exudes a fun and playful vibe and juicy, exotic aromas of papaya, pink grapefruit, guava and zesty tangerine peel evoke all the best summertime memories. This delightful, gently sparkling wine is comprised of not one or two, but five grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Gewürztraminer. That’s a busy blend for sure, but it works a treat. Pét-Nat tends to write its own rules. This is right up its alley. With so many personalities joined by the bubble here, the result is the kind of individuality which works so well with the petillant naturel (Pét-Nat) style, bringing a taste of the exotic and filling the mouth with a plush, textural appeal, not to mention flavour. Colour is a smoky pink-salmon. Aromatics are lifted and lively in rose petal, cranberry, cherry, mango and riveting spice. On the palate, the small but essential role of Gewürztraminer’s spice has to be noted in elevating a sense of the exotic – not to mention Sauvignon’s touch of herbal intrigue – alongside warm tropical fruit and berry notes. The gentle, fine bubble caps off a delicious sparkling. So many Pét-Nats tend towards the bland. There are layers and there are nuances. It’s an autumnal Pinot Noir, almost-but-not-quite a bit tomato leafy, with smoky/reductive characters in play too. Its style is pretty clear. But the fruit is ripe, cherried, strawberried, boysenberried even, and cedarwood oak is beautifully integrated, and there’s a minerally crackle to the tannin. In short, it feels and tastes like a class act, and one that will reward cellaring. The tannin profile itself is of note; a conduit of flavour and a magnetic, binding force, like a river or a stream, pushing and pulling as the wine flows.

[points rating="94+" title="The Wine Front"]

James Suckling January 2025

Fragrant with pomegranates, red currants, sage and hints of incense and cola candy.
