2024 Single Vineyard '3A' Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes
Colour
Inky dark in colour, with bright crimson / purple hues.
Aroma
The nose exhibits briary dark fruits, cedar like spice, lovely, lifted cassis which is nuanced by ferrous minerality.
Palate
The palate is tightly wound and coiled with beautiful fine-grained tannin and a refreshing crunchy acidity. The seamless, fine boned nature of this wine presents elegance and class which lifts the pristine fruit profile of this variety.
Cellaring
Delicious now, but this wine will age for at least 15 years.
Technical
Vintage
2022 was a truly exceptional vintage in Margaret River. The season started beautifully with a wet spring and late flowering, followed by a warm and dry season, producing refined flavour, great elegance and personality.
Winemaking
The Deep Woods Single Vineyard wines exemplify the diversity of Margaret River’s distinct subregions. This single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the unique Gibb Block 2 Vineyard in the Treeton subregion of Margaret River’s southeast. This block is a relatively steep west facing slope with deep ironstone rich gravels. It's late ripening, despite the warm nature of this site and produces powerful, expressive and detailed Cabernets.
The vineyard is a low crop, dry, cool site. Grapes were fermented over 14 days before being pressed to tank and then racked to barrel (30% new and remainder 1–2-year-old French oak) for 18 months maturation.
