Tasting Notes

colour

Pale straw.

aroma

From one of the most coastal vineyards in the Wilyabrup subregion this wine displays sea spray, chipped shell and crushed chalk aromas.

All of which are supported by lemon zest, white florals and tart grapefruit.

palate

An uber saline palate provides exceptional length with mouthwatering stone fruit and citrus flavours abundant.

Toasted cashew and fennel are apparent from barrel fermentation and an extended time on yeast lees.

cellaring

This wine may be enjoyed on release but will find further complexity 5 to 6 years from vintage.

Technical

vintage

Adequate winter rainfall in 2024 replenished vineyard dams and soil moisture as the region headed toward budburst.

Moderate temperatures followed throughout spring ensuing healthy vine canopies with little disease pressure. This was followed by dry and warm conditions into summer while white varietals were picked. Netting was a challenge due to a lack in regional marri blossom thus keeping birds out of the vineyard proved to add additional work for viticulturalists.

The 2025 vintage again displays Margaret Rivers incredible consistency with wines of balance, seamless natural acidity and fruitfulness.

winemaking

Our single vineyard wines showcase the Margaret River regions complex detail where coastal influence provides freshness, purity and unique character.

Hand selected bunches of Gin Gin clone Chardonnay were picked on the 5th February before a long gentle press to extract free run juice only.

Wild fermentation in a selection of large and small Burgundian oak (30% new) while maintaining fermentation temperatures of up 25’C built texture and yeast derived aromas.

The wine matured on lees for a further 10 months to provide body and subtle savoury nuances.
